The Samshield breeches range is built on two models. The Adele is the classic Samshield breech with a knee grip; the Clara adds a high waist and comes in knee grip or full grip. Both are cut from Samshield’s technical stretch fabric to pair with the show jackets and show shirts, and both come in white, black and navy for the ring, plus each season’s colours and the Premium editions for schooling and everyday riding. Samshield breeches: your questions answered
Knee grip or full grip?
Knee grip has the silicone grip on the inside of the knee only, the classic show-jumping choice and the lighter feel. Full grip runs the silicone across the seat and knee for more security in the saddle, favoured for dressage and by riders who want extra hold. The Adele is knee grip; the Clara comes in both.
Adele or Clara?
The waist. The Adele has Samshield’s classic rise; the Clara is the high-waist version, which sits neatly with a tucked-in show shirt and gives a longer line. Fabric and grip options are otherwise the same.
Which size Samshield breeches should I order?
Samshield breeches are French sized, so FR36 is a UK 8, FR38 a UK 10 and so on. Our Samshield clothing size guide has the full conversion and how to measure; if you’re between sizes, email us or use live chat before you order.
How do I wash white Samshield breeches?
Turn them inside out and machine wash on a gentle cycle without fabric softener, which can affect the silicone grip, then air dry away from direct heat. Check the care label for the temperature.
