The Shadowmatt is Samshield’s standard-peak helmet: the original shape, with the slimmer peak and no front band, so the detail sits in the top, trim and blazon and the look stays understated. Shadowmatt is a matt finish; it is also available in Shadowglossy, which is a glossy finish. As the UK’s largest Samshield stockist, Espayo holds the Shadowmatt in depth, from the plain black helmet and the Dark Line, where shell, trim and blazon are all matt, to the crystal fabric and Swarovski versions.

The range builds up from the plain shell: a trim and blazon in matt, chrome or black chrome, then a top from Samshield’s many options, including Alcantara, crystal fabric, leather and Royal Flower, with optional Swarovski crystals across the shell. The Shadowmatt Premium has the whole shell wrapped in Alcantara. If the combination you want isn’t in stock, design your own and we’ll order it from Samshield, currently around five weeks. Prefer the wide peak and a decorated front band? See the Miss Shield range.

Shadowmatt 2.0 helmets come in shells Small to Extra Large, with a free liner to set your exact size; our Samshield helmet size guide shows how to measure, or email us or use live chat and we’ll help. In-stock orders placed by 1pm are dispatched the same day: choose next-day delivery at checkout, or standard delivery in 2–3 working days, and we offer a price match guarantee where eligible. Spare liners and accessories are here, and the full range is in Samshield helmets.

Samshield Shadowmatt: your questions answered

What is the Samshield Shadowmatt?

Two things. It is the name of Samshield’s standard-peak helmet, the classic shape with the slimmer peak and no front band, and it is also the name of Samshield’s matt finish, which is available on any of their helmets. The gloss finish is called Shadowglossy.

Shadowmatt or Miss Shield: which should I choose?

Both share the same shell, sizing, liners and safety certification, so it’s purely the look. The Shadowmatt is the understated classic; the Miss Shield has a wider peak, more shade and a front band that carries the decoration.

What is the Samshield Dark Line?

A Shadowmatt where everything is matt: shell, trim and blazon, with no chrome or gloss anywhere. It is the most discreet helmet Samshield make and pairs with any jacket.

What is the difference between the Shadowmatt 1.0 and 2.0?

The 2.0 is the current version, with an updated shell and its own liner system; 1.0 and 2.0 liners are not interchangeable, so check which you have before ordering a spare.

Is the Samshield Shadowmatt an oval or round fit?

Samshield is naturally a slightly oval fit. If your head is rounder, the Round V2 liner adjusts the fit, and we’ll advise which liner to choose before you order. KEP and Kask are rounder by design, so riders who have struggled to get those to fit often find Samshield is the answer.

Can I change the look of my Samshield later?

Not at home: the front band, top and trim are fitted at the factory. But Samshield’s ReStyle service, valid for five years from purchase, sends your helmet back to the Samshield Workshop for refreshed personalisation, and every ReStyle includes a full ReStart safety check, so you get a new look and a checked helmet in one. What happens if I have a fall in my Samshield?

Any fall where your head touches the ground can damage the inner shell without leaving a mark, so the helmet should not simply go back into use. The good news is that a Samshield doesn’t have to be thrown away. Under Samshield’s ReStart service, a helmet up to five years old (with proof of purchase) goes back to the Samshield Workshop in France for a full inspection; if the outer shell passes, they replace the entire inner shell along with the standard blazon, trim and top (custom decoration is kept), and return it to you as a safe helmet ready to wear again. Contact us and we’ll arrange it.
