Between shells (55, 57, 58 or 61cm)? Start with the larger liner and we will swap it if the helmet feels loose. Rounder head shape? Ask us for the Round V2 liner. Every helmet comes with a free liner.
The Samshield Shadowmatt 1.0 with a Crystal Fabric top, framed by black chrome trim and blazon. Crystal Fabric is woven through with hundreds of tiny crystals, so it gives an even, all-over shimmer rather than individual stones. The matt finish keeps the rest of the helmet understated, so the detailing does the talking.
This is the previous-generation Samshield 1.0 shell, available while stock lasts in the sizes listed. 1.0 shells take 1.0 liners, which are not interchangeable with the current 2.0 range.
Fit and sizing
The 1.0 shell is available in the size listed above, and the liner sets your exact size within it. Samshield is naturally a slightly oval fit; if your head is rounder, the Round V2 liner adjusts it. Every helmet from Espayo includes a free liner, and if you are unsure which shell or liner you need, email us or use live chat before you order. Safety
Samshield helmets are certified to the European EN and American ASTM standards and carry the SEI mark. Details are on Samshield’s safety page.
Delivery and custom builds
We hold the UK’s largest live Samshield range. In-stock helmets ordered by 1pm are dispatched the same day: choose next-day delivery at checkout, or standard delivery in 2–3 working days. If your size or combination isn’t in stock, Samshield build it to order, currently around five weeks, and you can design your own Samshield and send us the configuration. The SEI-marked ASTM standard is accepted by British Showjumping, British Eventing, British Dressage, The Pony Club, British Riding Clubs and Endurance GB; check your discipline’s current hat rules before you compete.
Care
Wipe the shell with a damp cloth or a non-harmful glass spray and buff with a clean, dry cloth. The liner is removable and washable. Store the helmet in its bag when not in use. If you have a fall, don’t simply put the helmet back into use: under Samshield’s ReStart service (up to five years from purchase, with proof of purchase) it goes back to the Samshield Workshop in France for a full inspection and, if the outer shell passes, a new inner shell plus standard blazon, trim and top, so you get a safe helmet ready to wear again.
