Finding Your Correct KASK Helmet Size

KASK riding helmets use removable internal padding to create a secure and comfortable fit. Your head circumference provides the starting size, while your head shape and the way the helmet sits should be considered when checking the final fit.

Espayo Equestrian stocks KASK Dogma, Star Lady and Dogma XC riding helmets in a selection of finishes and peak styles. The circumference sizing remains consistent throughout the equestrian range, although the appearance and peak design vary between models.

How to Measure Your Head for a KASK Riding Hat

Use a flexible measuring tape and take your measurement in centimetres. Repeat the measurement two or three times to make sure the result is consistent.

1

Use a flexible tape

Use a soft fabric measuring tape. If you do not have one, use a piece of string and measure it against a ruler.

2

Position it correctly

Place the tape horizontally around your head, just above your ears and approximately 1–2cm above your eyebrows.

3

Measure the widest point

Guide the tape around the widest point at the back of your head, keeping it level and following the natural shape of your head.

4

Record the measurement

The tape should feel firm without digging into your head. Record the result in centimetres and repeat the process for accuracy.

Important: Measure your head with your hair styled as you normally wear it when riding. A large bun, ponytail or extra hair beneath your riding helmet can change both the measurement and the final fit.

KASK Riding Hat Sizing and Fitting Advice

Open the sections below to view the KASK helmet size chart, model information and advice on checking the fit of your riding hat.

KASK Helmet Size Guide

KASK equestrian helmet sizes are displayed in centimetres. Your measured head circumference will normally provide the starting size for the removable inner padding.

For example, a head measurement of approximately 56cm will usually correspond with a size 56 KASK inner padding.

KASK riding-hat sizes

KASK size Head measurement Traditional hat size
51 Approximately 51cm 6 3/8
52 Approximately 52cm 6 1/2
53 Approximately 53cm 6 5/8
54 Approximately 54cm 6 3/4
55 Approximately 55cm 6 7/8
56 Approximately 56cm 7
57 Approximately 57cm 7 1/8
58 Approximately 58cm 7 1/4
59 Approximately 59cm 7 3/8
60 Approximately 60cm 7 1/2
61 Approximately 61cm 7 5/8
62 Approximately 62cm 7 3/4
63 Approximately 63cm 7 7/8
Your circumference measurement is an important starting point, but it does not replace a full fit check. The helmet should sit level, remain stable and create even contact without painful pressure.
KASK Dogma and Star Lady Sizing

KASK Dogma and Star Lady helmets use the same circumference-based sizing approach and compatible removable Dogma inner padding.

The main difference between the models is the peak. KASK Dogma has a standard riding-hat peak, while Star Lady has a wider peak designed to provide additional coverage and a distinctive appearance.

The wider Star Lady peak does not alter the internal circumference measurement. A rider who wears a particular size in KASK Dogma will normally use the same starting size in Star Lady.

KASK finishes and internal fit

Hunter, Chrome and Pure Shine finishes change the external design of the helmet rather than the basic sizing method. Always choose your size according to your head measurement and final fit rather than the helmet finish.

KASK Dogma inner padding is designed for Dogma and Star Lady helmets. Always choose genuine padding in the correct size for your helmet.
KASK Dogma XC Size and Fit

KASK Dogma XC is the peakless option within the equestrian helmet collection. It is suited to riders looking for an XC, jockey, endurance or streamlined riding-hat style.

The absence of a peak does not change how your head circumference is measured. Use the same measuring method and select the size that corresponds most closely with your measurement.

Once fitted, the Dogma XC should sit level and securely around your head. It should not rock from side to side, lift at the back or move independently when you gently shake your head.

How Should a KASK Riding Helmet Fit?

A correctly fitted KASK riding hat should feel close, stable and evenly secure without causing painful or concentrated pressure.

Signs of a correct fit

  • The helmet sits level from front to back.
  • The front edge sits approximately 1–2cm above the eyebrows.
  • The internal padding creates even contact around your head.
  • The helmet gently moves the skin on your forehead.
  • It remains stable when you lower or gently shake your head.
  • The chin strap feels secure without restricting movement.

Signs the fit needs adjusting

  • The helmet rotates independently of your head.
  • It slips forwards towards your eyebrows.
  • There are noticeable gaps around the sides or back.
  • The helmet sits unusually high on your head.
  • You experience sharp pressure, discomfort or a headache.
  • You need to overtighten the chin strap to keep it stable.

Checking the chin strap

Once the helmet fit feels correct, fasten the chin strap. It should sit closely beneath your chin without restricting breathing, swallowing or normal head movement.

The chin strap helps stabilise the helmet, but it should not be used to compensate for a riding hat that is otherwise too loose.

What If I Am Between Two KASK Sizes?

Your head circumference provides the starting point, but head shape, hairstyle and the pressure created by the internal padding will also affect the final fit.

If you fall between two sizes, we generally recommend selecting the larger padding size as your starting point. If the helmet feels too loose once tried on, we can exchange the padding for a smaller size.

Try your helmet indoors for approximately 10 to 15 minutes while keeping all labels and protective packaging intact. This gives you time to identify unwanted movement or uncomfortable pressure points.

  • The size may be too large if the helmet moves, rotates or slips forwards independently of your head.
  • The size may be too small if it creates painful or concentrated pressure that does not ease after several minutes.
  • Do not rely on an overtightened chin strap to correct an otherwise loose helmet.

We offer follow-up fitting support to help you achieve the best possible fit. Appointments can be arranged in person at our office, virtually, or at the equestrian trade events we attend.

When Should I Replace My KASK Inner Padding?

KASK inner padding is removable, interchangeable and washable, making it easier to maintain a fresh and comfortable helmet fit. Through regular wear, however, the internal material can gradually soften or compress.

Consider replacing your KASK padding when:

  • Your riding hat feels noticeably looser than when it was first fitted.
  • The padding has lost its original shape or support.
  • The material is damaged, torn or heavily worn.
  • Your helmet moves despite previously fitting securely.
  • Your hairstyle or preferred fit has changed.
  • You would like a spare set of padding to rotate between washes.

Always check that replacement padding is compatible with your exact KASK helmet model before ordering.
